INDIANAPOLIS (September 8, 2011) — Klipsch, a leading global speaker manufacturer, today announces the launch of the Klipsch Gallery™ G-17 Air, the company’s first music system employing Apple® AirPlay®* technology. Providing a minimalistic look and patented Klipsch audio technology, this system joins the already in-market components of the current Klipsch Gallery series, which poses a greater crossover home audio solution.

Using any wireless network, embedded AirPlay technology allows users to easily stream high-quality audio directly from any iPod®, iPhone® or iPad® capable of running iOS 4.2 to the G-17 Air – all without wires and the need to dock the relevant device. iTunes® can also be streamed from a Mac or PC to one or multiple G-17 Air systems in the home or office, taking advantage of a simple and efficient new method of creating a whole-house audio system. The G-17 Air also contains a USB input for direct digital connection and charging of any 30-pin Apple device and a 3.5 mm analog input to accept almost every music player available. The Klipsch G-17 Air is also compatible with Android-based smartphones and tablets once users download a DLNA capable third party music app.

“As Apple and Android products continue to envelop the consumer electronics space, we became eager to accommodate enthusiasts with an innovative music system that remained true to Klispch’s signature sound,” said Paul Jacobs, CEO of Klipsch. “With this breakthrough music system, we have carved out a new Klipsch audience – one that prefers effortless setup, as well as the best in technology and design. By offering a device that no longer bounds beloved playlists by wires, we’ve contrived the means to simplify, enhance and transform the listening experience.”

Measuring 17 inches in length and engineered for the ultimate sound experience, the G-17 Air captures the same distinct power, detail and emotion of Klipsch’s renowned horn-loaded speakers. Employing exclusive Tractrix® Horn technology, the music system effortlessly delivers legendary Klipsch sound, complete with reduced distortion and constant directivity for a live soundstage experience. The elegant, injection molded polymer cabinet has a front baffle that curves on both sides to create both an attractive design and a solid, low-resonance structure. The unique, 12-step cabinet finishing process achieves a sleek, piano-black and high-gloss luster that emulates a fine musical instrument.

The current Klipsch Gallery offering is complete with three satellite speaker models (G-12, G-16 and G-28, utilized as left, center, right or surround speakers (LCRS)) and one integrated LCR 3-channel soundbar (G-42), with the names representing their corresponding size in length in inches.

The Klipsch Gallery G-17 Air will be available for $549.99 (U.S. MSRP) at authorized retailers and Klipsch.com in fall 2011.
