INDIANAPOLIS (November 27, 2006) — Klipsch Audio Technologies, a leading global manufacturer of loudspeakers, has secured an audio niche at the 2008 summer Olympics, taking place in Beijing, China, to further extend its international presence.

The company’s initial steps involve supplying the theatrical and speaker products for the Humanistic Olympics Studies Center’s (HOSC) multi-media digital cinema and official Beijing Olympic learning center. The digital cinema will include a proprietary virtual video conferencing platform that will be presented as a potential model for standardizing Olympic communications and training.

Both of these Klipsch-branded venues, slated to be complete in early 2007, will be located on the top floor of the HOSC facility at Renmin University of China, which is the official site for the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG).

According to Mike Klipsch, president of Klipsch Audio Technologies, being involved with the prototype projects at Renmin is key because there are primary Olympic committee members using them as design templates for as many as 40 citywide conference centers to service the Olympic Games.

“We understand Klipsch will be the lead sound provider for all of the conference centers and venues,” he said. “Effective communications play an important role in carrying out the Olympic spirit and our high-performance speakers can help make that happen.”

Additionally, the company hopes to parlay the Renmin projects into larger opportunities around Beijing that would include Klipsch installations at the Olympic village, stadiums and various hotels. Mike Klipsch said that the Olympic Committee is focused on finding unique technological solutions for the Beijing 2008 exhibitions and that many of the individuals involved with the Renmin projects are also working on the above-mentioned developments.

Assisting Klipsch with its Olympic movement is professor Philip Cacayorin, an official producing director for the Beijing Olympic Games films who specializes in three-dimensional sound technology and high definition production.

According to Cacayorin, when he was approached with this Olympic opportunity, his immediate response was “I would never consider any other speaker product by my side except Klipsch.” He also said that based on the feedback he has received, the Olympic officials are quite impressed with his production and exhibition solutions.

“I have used Klipsch on several projects, such as The Centre for Performing Arts in Vancouver and a themed attraction at Darling Harbour in Sydney, Australia, because I truly believe in their design philosophy,” said Cacayorin. “Klipsch speakers have the ability to reproduce and deliver higher frequencies accurately to larger audiences, therefore, I’ve chosen them as the exclusive manufacturer of my three-dimensional speaker product.”

Cacayorin is also partnering with professor Hu Bo on several filmmaking projects. They plan on capturing the opening and closing ceremonies as well as the torch relay that is scheduled to reach the top of Mount Everest. Hu Bo has been involved with the Olympic Bid Committee for 10 years and is the high definition film producer who created the footage that helped Beijing win the Olympic bid.

Cacayorin and Hu Bo are establishing the Renmin University HOSC facility as the showcase venue for all their efforts. Cacayorin mentioned they are both excited about being able to provide effective presentations within close proximity to the sanctioned Olympic sites and local officials.
